Join Puente
Looking at waits and leave-home estimates is free and does not share your location. Joining is optional. You only share a crossing if you agree here and later tap I’m leaving to cross.
What this is
Puente is for the bridges between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. If you join, you can share how long a crossing took. Those times are blended with the official CBP wait times so the estimate gets better as more people join.
You do not have to join to look at the waits. Official CBP times are a public government feed. They are not your location.
What is collected, and when
Nothing is collected when you only browse or check a leave-home estimate. Joining does not turn location on. Location is used only after you tap I’m leaving to cross and turn on the optional bridge watch, and only while that screen is open.
We use it for one job: to notice when you enter the line at one end of a bridge and when you come out the other end. Most people mark the line themselves. We keep those two moments, not a trail of the drive.
Stored with a trip: the bridge, the direction (into the US or into Mexico), the lane you picked (general, Ready Lane, SENTRI, pedestrian, or commercial), the start and end times, and the two location points for those moments so we can tell they were at the bridge.
What we do not collect
No name, email, phone number, or password. No location before you agree. No location after you stop crossing mode. No path in between.
A website cannot keep tracking in the background on an iPhone. If the phone locks, use I’m in line and I crossed.
How it is anonymized
This phone gets a random id. That id is not your name. Estimates mix many crossings. We do not publish anyone’s points.
Estimates are calculated from trips still on file. We do not keep a second copy. After you delete, your trips drop out of the next calculation.
How to leave
Account → Leave and delete my data. That removes the membership and every trip tied to this phone. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
